Then you must check out Valco Baby’s newest double stroller (which effectively replaces the Neo Twin): the Valco Baby Slim Twin (~ $599). At only 24 lbs and 26 inches wide, it lives up to its name; the Slim Twin is the narrowest of all of Valco’s double strollers, and one of the slimmest double strollers on the market (almost 5 inches smaller than most side-by-side strollers!).
The Slim Twin comes in two colorways: Licorice (black) and Glacier (blue) — pictured below — and is now available for purchase at retailers such as Pish Posh Baby and Albee Baby.

Valco Baby does double strollers REALLY, really well. This elusive company (out of Australia — they sometimes have product in stock… ahhhhnd sometimes they don’t) is one of the few companies that understands that every pound matters. Which is part of why I’m so pumped to be able to spread the word via this Valco Baby Slim Twin Review.
Let’s dig a little deeper.
Size & Weight
As mentioned, the Slim Twin is Valco’s narrowest double stroller — and one of the narrowest and lightest side-by-side strollers on the market. For comparison’s sake, this stroller is even lighter than most double umbrella strollers. Crazy, right? Families who take their stroller in the car, carry it up the stairs, and/or travel by plane will especially appreciate the weight.
Note, however, that with its slim build, we lose some of the features we’re used to seeing on Valco Baby strollers. Which brings me to…
One question many are asking is how Valco’s Slim Twin differs from their Snap Duo Trend. While they’re both the same LIGHT weight (24 lbs!), the Snap Duo Trend is much more full-featured and boasts some luxury details the Slim Twin lacks.
For instance, the Snap Duo Trend has an adjustable leatherette handlebar and front bar covers, while the Slim Twin has a foam handlebar that is not adjustable, and much more basic textiles. In addition, the Snap Duo Trend accepts two car seats, while the Slim Twin can only take one. And, unlike the Snap Duo Trend, the Slim Twin does not have a snack tray option, nor is it bassinet-compatible. Unfortunately, some things just have to be sacrificed in order to create such a slim double.
That said, at 26 inches wide, the Slim Twin is a good 3 inches narrower than the Snap Duo Trend. Just so you can get an idea of how narrow it really is, the Slim Twin is almost the same width as the double tandem UPPAbaby Vista!
Seats
Each seat takes up to 45 lbs of kiddie meat. (For reference, the Snap Duo Trend can also hold 45 lbs per seat, while the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Double — a more all-terrain SBS double — accepts 50 lbs per seat.)
The Valco Baby seats recline independently (one-handed strap recline) to a nearly flat position, and have their own adjustable footrest.
In addition, the Slim Twin also has a “closed footrest” which creates a safe, cozy “bassinet” of sorts for younger babies. Thus, according to Valco Baby, the Slim Twin can be used with newborns without a car seat.
That said, Valco’s website says, “When placing the infant directly in the seat we do recommend using an Infant Head Hugger, such as the Valco Baby Universal All Sorts Seat Pad & Head Hugger Set” (~$29). (See below.)
Car Seat
Car seat-wise, you can purchase an adapter (~$49) to use one — and only one — car seat. It works with the Maxi Cosi and Nuna infant car seats (yes, we would consider this a Euro stroller.)
Canopy, Braking, Storage, Accessories
The oversized canopies on the Slim Twin offer 50+ UPF protection and a “peek-a-boo window” for each kid, so you can spy on them from above.
The storage basket (below) is generously-sized, but the annoying thing is the bar down the middle… most side-by-sides have a bar that bisects the storage basket. Such is life.
As mentioned, the handlebar is not adjustable — which is a bummer for parents like me (on the short side), or parents like my husband (on the tall side). The brake is flip-flop friendly and very easy to use.
Wheels/Suspension
The wheels on the Slim Twin are made of foam to maintain the product’s low weight. Since they are not air-filled, the Slim Twin rolls best over flat, even terrain (strolls around the neighborhood, a day trip to the zoo, running errands, etc.). That said, you can purchase the Infinity Wheels Pack (~$175), which perform similarly to air-filled tires (without the need to ever inflate them!), and will add durability and smoothness to the ride (this is a great option for those who live in areas with hilly, uneven, bumpy terrain).
Folding & Carrying
The folding and carriage of this stroller is my favorite. To fold, simply press a button, squeeze the lever on the handle, and it folds down with one hand. This stroller folds forward like a clam shell (inward), thus protecting the fabrics from dirt and wear (unlike the “seat handle” fold, like on the Baby Jogger and B-Lively, which fold backward).
In addition, the Slim Twin comes with a carry strap for easy transporting (up and down stairs, onto the airplane, etc.)
Valco Baby Slim Review — Bottom Line: If you’re in the market for a SBS double stroller that is exceptionally narrow and light to boot — and you don’t mind giving up some luxury features, such as leatherette details, adjustable handlebars, etc. — this is definitely the stroller for you. This could easily be your everyday double stroller — so easy to carry, fold and throw in the trunk — as well as an amazing double travel stroller to boot. Truly, if weight is a big factor for you, this could be the lucky winner.

Is it possible to do some light jogging with the Neo Twin? I’m leaning towards it because of the AMAZING seated height and would prefer not to have to buy a separate jogger!
Hi Lynsay! You could potentially pull it off if you lock the front wheels, but I don’t think anybody would really recommend it, officially, as a jogger. Hope this helps!

Yes — we just learned that Valco Baby is working on a new model of this stroller. However, it’s been taking much longer than anticipated due to Covid and recent supply chain issues. They are hopeful the new model will be available sometime in 2022, but it’s not for certain. We will post updates as we get them.

I just spoke with Valco Baby. A new version of the Neo Twin will come out *hopefully* sometime in 2022 — they’ve been working on it, and had hoped it would be out by the end of last year, but with Covid and all the supply chain issues — that didn’t happen. The new Neo Twin will apparently be lighter & more compact. Stay tuned — and we will keep everyone posted as we learn more. Thanks for the comment!
the most amazing piece ever. My first model lasted 14 years and used for 5 kids. Are the hoods of neo twin removeable to wash?

I’m looking at a double stroller primarily used for daily walks (3 or so miles) would this have a smooth enough ride? Or is this more of a stroller for running errands and indoor use?

It depends what kind of terrain you’re talking about. If you live in a more hilly terrain with gravel or uneven surfaces, I’d probably choose a different stroller. However, if your area is mostly paved and flat, the Slim Twin would be a good choice.
